Landline vs. Cell Unit

In today’s world, bundle packages seem like such a great deal! With these packages everything is tied in together. With that being said, if the cable goes out; you also lose your phone and internet as well. In this instance, if your security system runs off your landline, not only have you lost your cable, internet and phone but you have also lost communication with your security system. Security systems relying on a landline tend to cost more in the long run, out weighing the one-time cost of purchasing a cell unit.

With a cell unit, your security system runs on a separate, broader bandwidth than a cell line that your mobile phone operates off of. Although monitoring costs on a cell unit tend to be a little higher than on a landline, it serves you better off in the long run because of its added benefits. The monitoring on a cell unit is less likely to be compromised versus monitoring on a landline simply because in an event of the landline being cut or disconnected, there are no actual “lines” on a cell unit. Furthermore, on a landline, you take the risk of the line being tied up (with another call, etc.) while an emergency in your home may be taking place. You can think of a cell unit serving as an extra “insurance” on your home or business in the case of a fire. For example, if there was a storm and the storm knocked out your power, phone line, etc; more than likely the monitoring of your security system would be compromised with your phone line being disconnected. If in the same storm, lightning struck your home resulting in a fire; your home would be unprotected, leaving your valuables at risk of being a total loss. This would not be the case, with the investment in a cell unit instead of relying on a landline because the cell unit would have much more of a chance in communicating the fire than a busy or in active phone line.

Contact Diamond Electronics today to learn more about how a cell unit can be beneficial to you. Diamond Electronics is located in Locust, North Carolina and services Charlotte, North Carolina and surrounding areas.

Cell Communicator for Home Security Systems in Charlotte, NC

July 17, 2013 By Diamond Electronics

Would your security system work if your phone line was cut?

With the recent storms in our area, you may have lost power for many hours or possibly many days. Also, if you have a landline at your home or business, the storms may have effected your phone service as well resulting in a loss of your phone line.

Did you know that if your security system is connected to a landline it is very likely that your system will not be able to communicate properly if your phone line is down due to storms, accidentally cut or any other issues that are out of your control?  At Diamond Electronics, we have an answer. With our cell back-up service, your security system will be connected via a digital cellular communicator (instead of a landline), and will communicate uninterrupted through that cell unit. With this service, you will not have to worry about your security system losing communication should something happen to your landline.

Contact Diamond Electronics today to inquire about our cell back-up service. Diamond Electronics is located in Locust, NC and services Charlotte, NC and surrounding areas.

Benefits of Video Surveillance Systems Charlotte, NC

July 5, 2013 By Diamond Electronics

Video surveillance has become a necessity for small business owners, and it is becoming more prevalent for home owners as well. One of the reasons for this is because the technology has become much more affordable.  Video cameras are everywhere you look, whether you’re grabbing a quick bite to eat at a fast food restaurant, stopped at the intersection (hopefully not as you are coasting through a red light!), or walking up on your neighbors’ front porch.

There are many benefits to having a video surveillance system installed in your home or business. First and foremost, a video surveillance system acts as a deterrent to crime. Seeing a camera or signage, warning of cameras on the premise, can be unnerving to a would-be criminal. In the same respect, a video surveillance system has the added benefit in its ability to apprehend a suspect when a crime has occurred.

Another of the many benefits of having a video surveillance system installed is the improved productivity in the workplace (and at home). Many business owners’ primary motivation for installing a video surveillance system is not the threat from without, but rather the threat from within. When thinking of loss prevention one typically thinks of people stealing goods from a business, but what about employees who routinely “steal” an employers’ time, by not doing what they are paid to do, when they are paid to do it. The day a video surveillance system is installed, much of that will stop. In turn this will potentially have a drastic effect on the business’ productivity. Home security cameras can help you see if your children are home when they are supposed to be, and actually doing what they are supposed to be doing, instead of sitting in front of the television.

Contact Diamond Electronics today for a quote on a video surveillance system for your home or business. Diamond Electronics is located in Locust NC and services Charlotte NC and surrounding areas.
