Emergency Contacts for Home Security Systems in Charlotte NC

February 11, 2014 By Diamond Electronics

Who are your emergency contacts? It is important that these names and phone numbers are up to date in our database. These are the people the Alarm Monitoring Center dispatcher will call in response to an alarm at your monitored location. Update your emergency contacts if…

  • An emergency contact number has changed
  • An emergency contact is now deceased
  • There has been a change in your family or in the contact’s family
  • The emergency contact is a neighbor who you can no longer rely on

If an emergency does occur, the Alarm Monitoring Center dispatcher will attempt to reach at least one of the people on the list. In emergency situations, it is vital to have the updated contact information. The emergency contacts should be key holders so that they can let local authorities into your home. Also, remind your emergency contacts of the verbal password on your account, as this word allows the dispatcher to know if you are the true customer.

Check your emergency contacts and make necessary updates so that we can provide the best services to bring life safety and protection to you and your family.

Contact Diamond Electronics today for all of your home security needs. We are located in Locust, NC and service Charlotte, NC and surrounding areas.

Home Security Systems – Testing Your System

February 5, 2014 By Diamond Electronics

Have you tested your alarm lately? As a homeowner, it is your responsibility to test your system to ensure it is working properly. It is a good practice as we highly recommend and encourage our customers to test their security system about once a month.

Call the Alarm Monitoring Center and inform the representative that you would like to test your alarm.

Note: if the system is on test, the Alarm Monitoring Center will not call on any signals they receive.

These are the steps to expect while testing your security system:

    • Have your verbal password, name and address ready.
    • The representative will put your system in “TEST” mode so that police will not be dispatched.
    • Arm your system.
    • Activate the alarm by opening a nearby door or window.
    • The siren should sound. Allow the sound to go off for a full 30 seconds.
    • Turn your system off as usual. You can use this time to test your panic buttons or emergency signals.
    • Reset your keypad.
    • Ask the representative to take your system off “TEST” mode to resume 24-hour monitoring.

Home Security Systems – Charlotte, NC

December 11, 2013 By Diamond Electronics

Take initiative to protect your home from burglary

Most burglars seek homes that are easy to target. Taking the necessary steps to make your home difficult to successfully break into is the best first step you can take simply because burglars may avoid your house in favor of an easier target.

  • Secure all doors and windows and ensure they are locked. This includes your garage door if you have one. Many burglars just walk right into unoccupied homes whose owners have either forgotten or intentionally left the door unlocked.
  • Keep valuable objects out of plain view, and keep curtains and blinds in your home closed to avoid attracting burglars.
  • Don’t leave house keys in common areas like under doormats or flower pots. Bury your key in an inconspicuous location in your backyard so that you can dig it up if you ever need it.
  • Leave a light on when you leave in the evenings so it appears that someone is home. If possible, also carpool or take as few cars as possible so that there is a vehicle in the driveway, leading the burglar to believe the home is occupied.
  • Always arm your home security system when you come in for the night or before you leave the house each morning.
