Have you tested your alarm lately? As a homeowner, it is your responsibility to test your system to ensure it is working properly. It is a good practice as we highly recommend and encourage our customers to test their security system about once a month.
Call the Alarm Monitoring Center and inform the representative that you would like to test your alarm.
Note: if the system is on test, the Alarm Monitoring Center will not call on any signals they receive.
These are the steps to expect while testing your security system:
- Have your verbal password, name and address ready.
- The representative will put your system in “TEST” mode so that police will not be dispatched.
- Arm your system.
- Activate the alarm by opening a nearby door or window.
- The siren should sound. Allow the sound to go off for a full 30 seconds.
- Turn your system off as usual. You can use this time to test your panic buttons or emergency signals.
- Reset your keypad.
- Ask the representative to take your system off “TEST” mode to resume 24-hour monitoring.
